Tigers who killed owner to be transferred

Pinerolo, July 10 - Ten tigers including one who
mauled to death her 72-year-old owner last week will be
transferred Thursday from a zoological park in Pinerolo, outside
Turin, to zoos in Pombia and Ravenna in northern Italy and
Fasano in the south.
Their owner Mauro Laggiard was killed on July 2 by Samir,
one of the tigers, after he had entered her cage to feed her.
Transferring the tigers over security concerns had been an
issue for the past three years, since the zoological park where
they lived was closed.
The animals had already attacked their owner before.
However Laggiard had always opposed their transfer and his
widow Carla Agosteo on Wednesday criticized the decision.
"I dedicated my life to these animals, I know them and
understand them and now I am worried for their future," she
"My husband died because he didn't listen to me, I had
warned him that Samir was nervous".
