Homicides in Italy could set new record low in 2013

Rome, July 11 - Murder in Italy this year is on
track to set another new record low, a report by the Italian
social economic research group EURES and the ANSA news agency
revealed on Thursday.
The first half of 2013 saw 226 homicides in all of Italy, a
number that leaves room for beating the 40-year low set last
year with 526 murders.
The number for the first six months of this year are not
yet definitive, cautioned Luigi Curatoli, director of the
Criminal Police Central Directorate's Criminal Analysis Service,
at a presentation of the report in Rome.
"But the trend appears to indicate a tendency toward
further decline in the number of homIcides, in line with what
has been happening for many years," Curatoli said.
