Italians maybe aboard Spain train crash

Madrid, July 25 - Italy's foreign ministry on
Thursday could neither confirm nor deny whether Italians were on
board a train that crashed overnight in northwestern Spain,
killing 77 and injuring more 100.
"We can't exclude anything, but there aren't any official
confirmations regarding Italians on board the derailed train
near Santiago de Compostela," said Claudio Taffuri, in charge of
the foreign ministry's crisis unit.
Spanish media had reported that a group of young Italians
were aboard the train.
Spain's government said the cause of the crash appeared to
be the high speed at which the eight-car train was traveling
while making a curve.
Some reports said it was traveling 190 km/h at the time,
more than twice the limit.
