Italy's regional budgets suffering, audit court says


(ANSA)- Rome, August 7 - Italy's Audit Court on Wednesday
said that regional budgets suffering from a decrease in
central-government funding were only partially compensated by a
hike in local taxes.
In its financial report on regions on the 2011-2012 period,
the court said that "with regional expenditure contributing for
22% of public administration expenses, regions played a role in
limiting public expenditure in the 2010-2014 period,
contributing for 34% of budgetary measures involving the public

euros in 2009-2012 - down 20,2%, - was only in part compensated
by higher tax revenues, growing on average 10% a year, the Audit
Court said.
