Famed Museo Egizio averts calamity after pipe bursts

Turin, August 13 - Workers at Turin's Museo Egizio,
famous for housing the world's second largest collection of
Egyptian antiquities, were given a scare when a pipe in the
building burst before opening hours Tuesday.
The rupture occurred under the same roof in the neighboring
library of the Accademia delle Scienze, which was flooded until
shortly after firefighters arrived and fixed the leak.
The Museo Egizio was not damaged.
It is the second minor disaster to strike Turin's museums
in just a few days after an explosion in the fire-prevention
system at the Museum of Natural Science.
