Scola to get Venice 'innovation' award

Venice, August 19 - Italian director Ettore Scola
will get an award celebrating innovation at this year's Venice
Film Festival, organisers said Monday.
Scola, whose films include We All Loved Each Other So Much
(1974), A Special Day (1977) and The Family (1987), will receive
the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2013 Prize on
September 6.
The 82-year-old Avellino-born director, who is presenting
an homage to his friend Federico Fellini 20 years after his
death, is the first Italian movie-maker to receive the award,
given since 2007 to "a personality who has brought great
innovation to contemporary cinema".
The previous recipients are Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas
Kiarostami (2008), Agnès Varda (2008), Sylvester Stallone
(2009), Mani Ratnam (2010), Al Pacino (2011) and Spike Lee
