IMU reform won't hit local revenues says Fassino

(updates previous).
Rome, August 27 - Municipalities will continue to
receive revenues from the IMU property tax through this year,
the head of the Italian association of municipalities (Anci)
said Tuesday.
"We have received only a few answers, the first was the IMU
assurance," Anci President Piero Fassino said after a meeting
with the government concerning the tax.
Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino said Anci had received
"assurances" on this score.
Fassino, the centre-left mayor of Turin, and Marino are
prominent members of the Democratic Party, senior partner in
Italy's coalition government with Silvio Berlusconi's People of
Freedom (PdL) party.
The coalition has been arguing for months over the future
of the controversial property tax, with a final decision
expected Wednesday.
