Clooney sponsors satellite to keep an eye on Sudan

Venice, August 28 - American actor and director
George Clooney said during a press conference at the Venice Film
Festival on Wednesday that he has invested in a satellite placed
over the border of North and South Sudan to keep an eye on
Sudanese dictator Omar al-Bashir.
Clooney, who was presenting the film directed by Alfonso
Cuaron, Gravity, which he is starring in together with Sandra
Bullock, said that he bought the satellite to monitor more
possible "atrocities" being carried out there and to put
pressure on al-Bashir, who has been found guilty of war crimes
by the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
An outspoken advocate for peace in Darfur, Clooney said
that he used the money earned for his Nespresso ads to pay for
the satellite and its upkeep.
