Civil protection considering rotation of Concordia

Grosseto, September 5 - By mid-September,
conditions should be right for crews to begin to rotate the hull
of the sunken cruise ship Costa Concordia - an important step in
removing the wreckage, officials said Thursday.
"After September 14 to 15, each day is good for starting
the rotation of the hull of the Costa Concordia," Anna Maria
Manzone, prefect of Grosseto, said Thursday after meetings with
a range of civil protection, police, and city officials.
Further meetings on the disposition of the partly submerged
vessel are planned for Friday in Rome.
Other preparations are continuing as workers begin efforts
to shift the massive cruise vessel that sank in January 2012,
killing 32 people.
Environmental groups have been warning that the ship, which
remains tangled in the rocks around Giglio Island, constitutes a
national threat.
