Copper-theft band busted by Italian police

Trento, September 13 - Police in Northern Italy
said Friday that they have arrested four people and disbanded a
criminal gang that allegedly carried out a series of thefts of
copper cables with an approximate value of 100,000 euros.
The 'Red Gold' probe, carried out by prosecutors in the
Northern Italian city of Trento, was triggered by at a
hydroelectric plant in August, in which 1,500 meters of copper
cable were stolen.
Prosecutors says some of the band would enter companies to
prepare the copper cable or other metals before others accessed
the area later to transport them away.
The law-enforcement officers recovered some 2,300 kilos of
copper stolen from a Brescia-based company whilst carrying out
the arrests.
