Rome, May 12 - Napoli coach Rafa Benitez has been
given a one-match touchline ban for saying "this is sh*tty
Italian soccer" at the end of Sunday's bad-tempered 2-2 draw at
already-relegated Parma, ANSA sources said Tuesday.
The comment was picked up by inspectors from the Italian
Soccer Federation (FIGC) prosecutors.
Serie A's sporting judge has also fined Napoli's Argentina
forward Gonzalo Higuain 10,000 euros for his role in ugly scenes
at the end of the game, the sources said.
After Sunday's match Parma coach Roberto Donadoni, whose
club recently went bankrupt, are bottom of the Serie A standings
and doomed to relegation to the second tier, alleged Napoli
players and directors said Parma might as well lose as they were
already belly up.
But on Monday the former Italy boss suggested Napoli's
jibes were a way to get under his players' skin, rather than a
real attempt at match-fixing.
Napoli were furious at alleged time-wasting tactics used
by Parma.
