(ANSA) - Rome, November 2 - League sources said Friday "there
is no intention to block the basic income" and that there was
"no clash" with the 5-Star Movement (M5S) on this point.
The income for the poor and job seekers is the flagship
campaign pledge of the anti-establishment M5S.
League bigwig, Cabinet Secretary Giancarlo Giorgetti says in
a new book by journalist Bruno Vespa, excerpts of which were
released Friday that the job-seekers' allowance will be hard to
enact because of "complications with its implementation",
This prompted Premier Giuseppe Conte, who is close to the
M5S, to reject this claim from Giorgetti.
"The basic income will be brought in starting in 2019,
gradually," he said.
The M5S and the anti-migrant Euroskeptic League have been at
odds over some policy moves, notably whether to halt major
infrastructure projects.
