Joe Biden ha giurato: è il giorno dell'America, della democrazia

Joe Biden è ufficialmente il 46esimo presidente degli Stati Uniti. Ha appena prestato giuramento su una bibbia. Si tratta della bibbia di famiglia al quale, da cattolico praticante, è molto legato. Accanto a Biden i suoi familiari. Poco prima aveva giurato la sua vice Kamala Harris. «Questa è la giornata dell’America, della democrazia, della storia, della speranza». Ha detto nel suo discorso di insediamento alla Casa Bianca. «La democrazia ha prevalso», ha aggiunto. Ovazione e applausi hanno accolto Joe Biden e la first lady Jill quando sono usciti da Capitol Hill per raggiungere la piattaforma per la cerimonia di giuramento.
"Mi fa piacere pensare che quello che per noi è oggi storico - una donna che giura per l vicepresidenza, sembrerà una cosa normale e ovvia quando le nipoti di Kamala saranno cresciute", twitta l'ex segretario di stato che aspirava a rompere il soffitto di cristallo e diventare il primo presidente donna. Un sogno che quattro anni fa si è infranto con la vittoria di Donald Trump.
"Riusciamo a respirare di nuovo aria fresca. Buona fortuna Joe e Kamala!". Così su Twitter il presidente del Ppe, Donald Tusk, facendo riferimento al nuovo presidente Usa Biden e alla vicepresidente Harris.
L’inno nazionale cantato da Lady Gaga
Jennifer Lopez ha cantato "This land is your Land" durante la cerimonia di insediamento. Tutta vestita di bianco, Lopez ha poi parlato in spagnolo gridando: «Libertà e giustizia per tutti!». Tutti in piedi con la mano sul petto durante l’inno nazionale cantato da Lady Gaga all’inaugurazione di Joe Biden alla presidenza. E’ accompagnata dalla banda dei Marine. Lady Gaga ha sfoggiato una mise rossa e nera, dall’ampia gonna a campana. Sulla giacca un enorme colomba dorata e una pettinatura con treccia che ricorda quella della principessa Leia di Star Wars. Prima di lasciare il podio, ha saluto Joe Biden, Kamala Harris e l’ex presidente Barack Obama.
"Sono stati quattro anni incredibili, abbiamo raggiunto tanti risultati insieme", ha detto Trump nel suo ultimo discorso a Washington prima di imbarcarsi sull'Air Force One. "Abbiamo sviluppato un vaccino" contro il Covid "in pochi mesi, un miracolo medico", sostiene. Fra la piccola folla c'erano tutti i figli di Donald Trump, da Ivanka a Tiffany, passando per Eric e Donald Jr. L'atmosfera è più da comizio che da discorso di commiato. "Abbiamo tagliato le tasse, abbiamo snellito la burocrazia. Abbiamo centrato molti obiettivi", dice davanti ai suoi sostenitori, che gli cantano 'We Love You'. Lui risponde: "We love you too, dal profondo del mio cuore". "Ritorneremo, in qualche modo", aggiunge. "Continuerò a lottare per voi, ci vediamo presto". Secondo indiscrezioni, il tycoon starebbe pensando a creare un suo partito, il 'Patriot Party' ma molto dipenderà dalle sue vertenze legali, a partire dall'impeachment.
Secondo riferisce la Cnn citando una fonde dell'amministrazione, Trump ha lasciato una nota per Biden alla Casa Bianca. E la First Lady Melania Trump ha dato indicazioni ai suoi assistenti di lasciare una nota di ringraziamento allo staff della Casa Bianca.
"E' un nuovo giorno in America", ha twittato il presidente eletto poco prima di giurare. Biden e la moglie Jill hanno partecipato stamane ad una messa bipartisan nella cattedrale di San Matteo apostolo, il principale luogo di culto cattolico di Washington, insieme al leader dei senatori repubblicani e dem, Mitch McConnell e Chuck Schumer, alla speaker della Camera Nancy Pelosi ed altri leader del Congresso.
"Congratulazioni al mio amico, il presidente Joe Biden! Questo è il tuo momento", ha twittato Barack Obama prima del giuramento, postando una foto che lo ritrae di spalle assieme al suo ex vice.
